Now I live somewhere a lot cooler, and have a different job so I've been doing my makeup again. I sold off much of my collection before moving to a tropical island, which was very hot and sticky, and I worked in the water all day so there really was no benefit to putting on makeup. It was fun but there wasn’t much room for growth either. It seemed pointless to be so stressed out about that job at that point in my life. I was paying my baby sitter $120 which would almost void out my earnings that day anyways. I was making $16 an hour and working 10 hours on Saturdays. You’re completely booked with appointments and it’s nonstop. The environment was very easy going when it wasn’t Saturday. But like most retail jobs (from what I hear) if you don’t make your goals 3 times in a row, they’ll let you go. Some where very achievable but some were not. Each day/week/month there was a sales goal to meet. I had done makeup for a couple years prior to getting this job but had little to no experience in retail. That was a bit more of one of those mundane interviews. The manager seemed pleased and told me that I would be reviewing a phone call from the higher ups. When the 15 minutes was up, I was told to turn it into a night time look in 15 minutes. I was not familiar with their products so much yet so that was an obstacle within itself. I show up and was told I had 15 minutes to create a day time look with their products. I had called and asked if they were hiring in which they responded yes and to come in on said date and time and to bring a model with me. I had always wanted to be a makeup artist and the biggest name in the game is MAC.
